I started getting the stash urge around christmas, so I treated myself to some himalayan saree yarn,*



and now I need a project awesome enough to use it on. These are the frontrunners.Any preference?



*a woman's collective in Nepal makes it from scraps of silk from indian saree factories. They work from home. It's not expensive, as natural-fiber yarns go, which is to say that it's still way more expensive than synthetics (most of my stash). Still, the people who make it get to see the profits, and they don't have to work in a factory, which is a good feeling.

You know, if I decide on the other one I'm considering buying more yarn to make that one for the kid. It's insanely graceful.

I know. I was really seduced by that one. The woman who designed it (both of them, really) uses large hooks to make what are essentially doily patterns into garments, and I'm always surprised at how strong and graphic they are when they're not made of string with tiny needles...
